With more than 1,700 locations operating across all 50 states, Sport Clips
responsible growth strategy has allowed the brand to penetrate nearly every major market in the U.S.
The strategy has been so successful that it is rare to come across a market
with significant development potential where an astute investor has the
chance to get in on the ground floor. With a combined population of nearly
three million people, household incomes well above the national average,
and only three operating Sport Clips locations, Nassau and Suffolk counties
on Long Island represent exactly that, a rare opportunity.
“There really aren’t too many opportunities with such geographical
concentration left in the Sport Clips network,” says Dave Wells,
senior director of franchising. “We’ve still got quite a few
opportunities spread out in markets across the country, but the number of
markets like this – where a franchisee can come in and scale to ten, 15 or even 20
units without having to stray far from home – those can easily be
counted on one hand.”
With such untapped potential, Sport Clips is looking for strong, business-minded
candidates who have the vision to build their own Sport Clips empire on
Long Island. Candidates should be leaders who understand the people side
of the business and know the best way to be successful is to create a
success story in each manager and Team Member they recruit.
“Sport Clips is extremely proud of its
semi-absentee business model that allows franchisees to grow their business while they keep their job
and plan for a full-time transition,” says Wells, “but what
really makes this model work are the managers and stylists who provide
our signature ‘championship haircut experience’ on a day-to-day
basis. If a candidate doesn’t have the ability to
establish a fun culture and to lead and develop great teams, this probably isn’t the right
fit for them.”
As for the candidate who is the right fit? “That candidate should
move quickly to take advantage of this opportunity while it lasts. Sport
Clips is going to help somebody write a great success story out here,
the only question is who,” states Wells.
