From October 12th to November 11th (Veteran’s Day), Sport Clips across the United States will be raising $750,000 for our “Help a Hero” campaign. The initiative gives scholarships to qualifying individuals who are either active military or veterans enrolled in post-secondary school of any kind. Our scholarships will provide up to $5,000 to veterans and current personnel who are pursuing education to better themselves.
Our franchise has been partnered with the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, or VFW, for nearly a decade. In 2013, we created theSport Clips Help a Hero Scholarship to solidify our commitment to helping veterans build their careers and lives. We are happy to announce that our generous franchisees are now joining in our mission!
Donations to the Help a Hero Scholarship will be collected at locations by Sport Clips stylists in-store and at fundraising events in communities nationwide all month long. These events will eventual lead to a climactic fundraising effort on November 11th called “The Biggest Haircut Day of the Year,” where every one of our hundreds of locations will donate one dollar per haircut towards our VFW scholarship program.
Our CEO and founder, Gordon Logan, is himself an Air Force veteran and VFW member. Through his efforts, Sport Clips and the VFW have given over a million dollars in scholarships to our nation’s heroes. It is our goal to give each member of the military who needs financial assistance a chance to go to school, in honor of their sacrifice of time, skills, and personal safety.
Sport Clips franchisees recognize the powerful contribution our soldiers make to our national excellence—it is why we are the national haircutter of the VFW, and why we continue to support veterans in whatever way we can.
